Streamlining Parish Work: Roadshow Highlights Admin Tech

Digital tools designed to ease the administrative workload for parishes were showcased at a recent roadshow event by the National Church.

Treasurers and administrators were invited to an event at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port where they were introduced to two key software solutions: MyFundAccounting and The Church Organiser.

These platforms aim to streamline church operations, from managing finances and producing reports to handling day-to-day tasks such as room bookings, life events, online payments, and more.

The Church Organiser helps with managing life events, ticketing, and room bookings, while MyFundAccounting is an intuitive tool for handling church finances.

Stephen Hendy from Data Developments, demonstrated MyFundAccounting which aims is to make church accounting simpler, more efficient, and accessible.

Participant, Revd Samson Ajayi, uses MyFundAccounting in the Latchwood Benefice. He said: "It’s been incredibly helpful and easy to use, especially with the ongoing support from the Diocesan finance team. It’s improved our reporting and made preparing for PCC meetings much smoother."

Kyle Cottington, from iKnow Church, introduced The Church Organiser. He said: "We offer tools for pastoral care, communications, rotas, and more. Our sessions are interactive. Churches bring their own devices, and we guide them through setup and best practices tailored to their needs."

Sharon Taylor-Booth, Assistant Accountant at Chester Diocese explained: “These roadshows aim to highlight the growing importance of digital solutions in supporting church ministry, making administration more manageable and freeing up time for mission and community engagement.”

The next Treasurers’ Network Gathering takes place on Thursday 9 October at St Michael’s Church, Bramhall for anyone working in parish finance and administration.

The day will include sessions on the Parish Giving Scheme, My Giving Online, Gift Aid as well as Digital Giving, and will be an opportunity for those in these roles to connect with their counterparts across the diocese.
