Associate Minister

Christ Church, Barnston and St Michael's, Pensby

Do you have:

·    a heart for Jesus and growing disciples?

·    a passion for the mission of the local church?

·    a desire to see ministry flourish amongst families?

If so, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

We are a lively, gospel-centred church, with two centres serving the adjacent communities of Barnston and Pensby, Wirral. We seek to appoint an Associate Vicar to partner with us, serving across the parish with an emphasis on leading the St Michael's Pensby congregation and working with a team to develop our outreach amongst families / younger generations.

St Michael's has a modern, well-equipped centre enjoying a prime location at the heart of Pensby. There is enormous potential to play a significant role in the life of the local community. Please read the role description for further information about this exciting opportunity.

·    Closing date: Sunday 2nd November 2025

·    Interviews: Monday 24th November 2025

The Diocese of Chester will not shortlist candidates unless they can provide an assurance of up-to-date safeguarding training and a valid DBS check for their current post. Candidates are required to submit relevant training certificates with their applications. Please complete the application form form below and send it to:

Archdeacon of Chester Ven Dr Mike Gilbertson: michael.gilbertson@chester.anglican.org

The PCC has made a request to the Bishop, on grounds of theological conviction, that arrangements be made for it in accordance with the House of Bishops’ Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests (concerning women priests). There is therefore a requirement that the post-holder be a male priest. Please note: the conviction concerns the priority of maintaining the unity we enjoy across a range of views on this matter.

If you would like an informal conversation regarding the role, please contact Rev'd Chris Slater:  07899 807507
