Interim Diocesan Secretary

Daresbury, Warrington

The Diocese of Chester is seeking an Interim Diocesan Secretary to serve as senior lay leader and Chief Officer of the Chester Diocesan Board of Finance, providing wise, faithful and pragmatic leadership during a six-month fixed term while a substantive appointment is made.


Working full time (35 hours, with flexibility considered for exceptional candidates) and reporting to the Bishop of Chester and the Chair of the DBF, the postholder will join the Bishop’s Senior Team to oversee governance, finance, operations and people, enabling the Diocese to live out its vision to “love Jesus and love others” and to be “together in Christ, sharing hope.”


This is a pivotal role for an inspiring, humble and emotionally intelligent practising Christian with proven senior leadership experience, able to manage complexity, lead change, uphold safeguarding, and steward a significant charity with integrity and grace.


Salary £86,000–£92,000 FTE; based at Church House, Daresbury Park, Warrington
