A Day of Ecumenical Collaboration

A Day of Ecumenical Collaboration

Three people (including one from our Diocese) from different Christian faiths work together to deliver a communications a training day.

Bringing together church leaders, communications volunteers, and individuals passionate about sharing the Christian message, the day offered a blend of theology, creativity, and practical skills.

The training day took place earlier this month at the Margaret Clitherow Centre in Liverpool, where 20 participants from a wide range of Christian traditions joined together for the Churches Together in The Merseyside Region (CTMR) event.

Facilitated by Revd Phil Jump (Northwest Baptist Association), Clare Coombes (United Reformed Church Mersey Synod), and Stephen Freeman (Diocese of Chester), the sessions provided both theological insight and hands-on sessions to equip churches with the knowledge and skills to communicate their faith with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

Session Summary:

Session 1: Commissioned to Communicate

Led by Revd Phil Jump, this session laid a shared theological foundation for why and how churches communicate.

Session 2: Storytelling and Social Media

Clare Coombes led a practical and engaging session on digital storytelling.

Session 3: Practical Video Production

Stephen Freeman brought a dynamic, hands-on approach to video production.

What Participants Said

Attendees spoke highly of the opportunity to connect with others, exchange ideas, and learn from different church traditions and approaches. Many appreciated the balance between theology and practice, and the collaborative nature of the sessions.

Looking Ahead

This training day demonstrated the value of ecumenical collaboration. Working together across denominational lines offers several benefits, including the sharing of effort and the increase of benefit to more people.

Churches Together in the Merseyside Region (CTMR) is committed to continuing this journey, offering future opportunities for churches of all traditions to grow, learn, and tell their stories together in fresh and compelling ways.
