Establishing New Christian Communities

This strategic priority is intentionally local. Every parish, chaplaincy, and mission context is invited to explore new or renewed ways of gathering around Jesus — creating spaces where people can meet Him and one another in authentic community.

Previously, the phrase “new worshipping communities” was used, but the focus has widened to include any form of community that places Christ at its centre. The emphasis is on doing new things that reach new people in new ways.

When people gather around Jesus, His presence and power are made known, and lives are transformed. Each local expression will look different — some may create fresh expressions of church; others may renew existing ministries that are finding new life. The aim is to encourage creativity, contextual mission, and sustainable growth.

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
