Everyday Faith

Image.jpg

Whoever and wherever we are, we are all called to live out our faith in our everyday lives.

Everyday Faith has grown out of Setting God's People Free,Church of England initiative that aims to help all Christians to live out the good news of Jesus, and follow him with confidence, in all areas of our lives.

Whether we are lay or ordained, we are all equal partners in mission, grounded in our common baptism with complementary gifts and vocations. Together we are called to be a living witness to others in our homes, schools, workplaces, churches, and communities – all the places we find ourselves each and every day.

What’s happened in this diocese so far?

A diocesan working group chaired by the Archdeacon of Chester has been sharing the Everyday Faith agenda with parishes through a series of deanery events

As Archdeacon Mike said afterwards: "It's clear from the conversations we had together, and from the feedback after the events, that there is an appetite to live out our faith more readily among the people we meet and in the places we find ourselves in everyday life.

"In particular, many people were struck by the idea that God has gifted each of us with a unique set of people and places in which to witness as followers of Jesus."

For format for the events focussed on the unique set of people and places God gifts each of us to witness as followers of Jesus and included an excellent video from the LICC as well as a local video that focussed on indivduals in our diocese.

A research report outlines the journey a group of pilot parishes took, prior to the deanery events, to embed a culture of everyday faith in their communities.

Read the report.

The report is encouraging in its picture of the growth in confidence in everyday faith and the way in which resources and initiatives were received in our churches.
