If He calls us ... He equips us!

SENCo and Inclusion Manager, Fiona Barrick explains how Foundations for Ministry equipped her on her journey
“If He calls us, He equips us” – hear Fiona’s story about her time on Foundations for Ministry.
Fiona Barrick from St Andrew’s Bebington took part in the Foundations for Ministry course this year as part of the Ellesmere Port group. Fiona works as SENCo and Inclusion Manager at a primary school on the Wirral. Here’s what she said about how Foundations has equipped her and others in their Christian service:
“I’d considered doing the Foundations for Ministry training for a number of years. I’d always felt some kind of call to more, but wasn’t quite sure what it was.
"I finally took the plunge last year: the timing was right and I had been seeking to know and understand more about the Church of England, the Diocese and my place within that.
"There have been so many benefits of the weekly sessions. I found the preparation work manageable even whilst I was working. The weekly reflections helped me consider my strengths, gifts and call within the bigger picture of reaching the 1.5 million across the diocese.
"I appreciated the teaching and group work within a safe space of like-minded people, as well as guidance from the Ministry team throughout the process. There was a real variety of people completing the training, some considering ordination, others lay reader or pastoral training, some continuing their service within their own church but with more understanding and focus.
"If there was one strong message to come from the training for me, it has been that if He calls us, He equips us. If you are considering Foundations for Ministry, I would wholeheartedly recommend getting in touch with the Ministry team. “
