What makes Catholic Evangelism distinctive?

For all Chester Diocese clergy and ordinands who are in the Catholic tradition in the Church of England, or exploring it

What makes Catholic Evangelism distinctive?

How do we reach out to adults and children in Anglo-Catholic ways?

On Thursday 3 September Bishop Julie and Very Revd Andrew Nunn will host a one-day gathering at Foxhill, with some inspiring speakers who have lots of experience of parish growth to share.

The Very Revd Andrew Nunn “In Christ, sacramentally – what makes Catholic evangelism distinctive?”

Until July 2023, Andrew Nunn was the Dean of Southwark. Having been ordained in Ripon Diocese in 1983 and serving in parishes in Leeds until 1995, Andrew then moved to the Diocese of Southwark where he was Bishop’s Chaplain before moving to the Cathedral in 1999 where he was firstly Sub Dean and Precentor before becoming dean in 2012.

Andrew has served the church in many capacities including 18 years as a member of General Synod. In retirement he is Chaplain to the Strategic Leadership Development Programme of the Church of England and continues to teach and lead retreats amongst other things. Andrew has also led pilgrimages for the last thirty years to the Holy Land but also to many other places.

Andrew has written a number of devotional books including one for Passiontide and Holy Week called ‘The Hour Is Come’ and another for Advent called ‘Bethlehem Bound’ both of which are published by Canterbury Press.

Fr Angela Rayner : “Moving the Parish from Maintenance to Mission: Learning from Mary and John the Baptist”

Fr Angela is a parish priest in the diocese of Southwark. For four years, she has served two parishes in South London: Holy Trinity, Tooting Bec, and St Augustine’s, Tooting Broadway. Prior to that, she served her title at King’s Lynn Minister in the Diocese of Norwich. She has particular pastoral interests in supporting diverse and neurodivergent communities.

Fr Mund Cargill-Thompson “The glory of God is a human being fully alive – bringing adults, young people and children into life in all its fullness”

Fr Mund has been passionate about sharing faith in a catholic sense since he first came to faith as a teenager. He is the Vice Rector (Evangelism) of the Society of Catholic Priests – a support group for clergy with the tagline “generously Catholic, generously Anglican.” He is also a trustee of “On Fire Mission” which organises conferences and events promoting the riches of Inclusive Catholic Charismatic spirituality
