Made in God's Image

Made in God's Image

As we prepare for Disability Awareness Sunday, 28th September Revd Kathryn Elsmore reflects on what the theme 'Made in God's image' means to her and her disabled daughter, Cerys.

"What does being created in the image of God mean when you are non verbal (and non-sign language and symbols)? It means that God has created you as a unique individual, who God reveals himself to, more than anyone can ever understand.

"Friends tell me that watching Cerys worship is special because she does not worry about fitting in or doing things the same as everyone else. She worships God in a way that is natural to her. Friends also tell me what a joy it is to spend time with Cerys and notice the things that no one else notices.

"For Disability Awareness Sunday on 28th September we will be having our usual cafe church, with the emphasis and table discussion on being made in the image of God."
