Net Zero Carbon Project Officer

Airren Martin has joined the Diocese of Chester at Church House as the Net Zero Carbon Project Officer within the Outreach Team.
In this role, she will play a key part in achieving the Diocese’s 2030 Net Zero target by implementing carbon-reduction initiatives. Airren will collaborate with the DAC and the Lead Officer for Buildings and Environment, Sheena Wilson, to provide guidance and support to churches in their transition towards net zero. This includes assisting parishes in developing their own decarbonisation plans.
Before joining Church House, Airren earned a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and an MSc in Environmental Practice. She previously worked as a Biodiversity Officer at The Mersey Forest, where she conducted surveys on birds, bats, badgers, and newts, and led projects focused on Biodiversity Net Gain.
Sheena Wilson, Lead Officer for Buildings & Environment says; "We are really excited to have Airren join the Buildings and Environment Team. She will be helping Chester realise its Action Plan for Net Zero Carbon 2030 and will be helping support Parishes with their carbon considerations, looking at carbon reduction at Church house and working with the team to promote Carbon literacy across the Diocese."
