Summer Eco Newsletter Celebrates Creation Care

The latest edition of the Summer Eco Church Network Newsletter has been published, showcasing inspiring stories, practical ideas and environmental achievements from churches and communities across the Diocese.
Introduced by Diocesan Environment Adviser Jill Elston, the newsletter highlights the growing enthusiasm for creation care and encourages parishes to share their own Eco Church journeys to inspire others.
Among the featured stories is the successful All-Age Eco Day at Foxhill, where families and individuals enjoyed outdoor activities including upcycling crafts, wildlife discovery, pond planting and environmental learning. The event concluded with outdoor worship and demonstrated how faith, community and nature can come together in a meaningful way.
The newsletter also launches a new diocesan Craftivism initiative, with Jill Elston set to lead creative workshops that combine environmental action with crafting. Churches are being invited to take part and help strengthen links between congregations and local communities.
Other good news stories include:
Bethesda Ecumenical Church supporting the launch of innovative animal-themed recycling bins created by the Halton Youth Cabinet.
St Thomas’ Church, Stockton Heath, partnering with local families and wildlife groups through a successful Hedgehog Workshop.
Christ the King, Birkenhead, creating a vibrant Easter floral display using entirely recycled and handmade decorations at virtually no cost.
St Thomas’ High Lane hosting a Repair Café to help reduce waste and encourage practical sustainability skills.
Looking ahead, readers are encouraged to prepare for a busy autumn season of environmental awareness events, while churches are reminded of the importance of submitting their Energy Footprint Tool data and engaging with the Church of England's net-zero ambitions.
