Bessia Kanengoni - Digital Giving Adviser

Bessia is providing support and guidance to parishes in introducing digital forms of giving, including online giving, webpages, QR codes and contactless donations systems. She is also involved in promoting generosity and giving in general.

Within our Central Resources teams at Church House we have specialists in digital solutions and tools to support generous giving.

Christian giving is not primarily about balancing the books of the Church, it is about resourcing God’s work, resourcing God's mission, which every Christian is called to join in. Are people excited about what your church is doing? Are they motivated to give to God’s work in the local community and your vision for the Church?

Giving is not just about the giving of money it’s about giving our whole selves to God.  “ you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 10: 30 (NRSV)

Fundraising also resources God’s Mission. The process itself of raising funds is also a great opportunity for Christian witness, as it often involves speaking to a wide range of organisations and people to gain support, such as grant-making trusts and local communities.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”

(Matthew 28: 19-20 NRSV)

Parish Giving Scheme

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is a giving mechanism that helps to make regular giving simple and straightforward for your church by managing direct debits and one-off donations, as well as claiming any gift aid directly from HMRC on behalf of your church each month. The gifts and gift aid claimed are then sent to your church within 10 working days at the beginning of each month. This helps to reduce the administrative burden and the paperwork required that is often on the treasurer or finance officers within your PCC. A unique feature PGS has, is the ability to give those donating the option to be able to increase their donations by CPI inflation each year, helping our churches against static giving. Through the help of PGS, having regular and planned giving is so beneficial for churches to be able to plan their mission and ministry accordingly.
