Are you 'Resus Ready' in your Church?

Are you 'Resus Ready' in your Church?

Prior to ordination, Revd George Roach spent most of his life working in the emergency services. Now Vicar of St Michael’s and All Angels Runcorn, he is keen to raise awareness of Restart a Heart 2025.

"As well as being a Vicar I am also a Volunteer Community First Responder for the North West Ambulance Service. My role is to assist the 999 system by responding to medical emergencies around Runcorn. Whilst pottering about, I also keep an eye on Community Public Access Defibrillators.

"It’s International Restart a Heart Day on 16th October, so I’d like to get the message out there to our churches to ensure their CPAD (Community Public Access Defibrillators) are registered on the National Circuit otherwise, as pretty as they look to the local community, they are useless if 999 don’t know about them."

Restart a Heart (RSAH) is an annual initiative led by Resuscitation Council UK which aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by helping more people learn CPR and become ResusReady.

Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain stubbornly low in the UK, with fewer than one in 10 people surviving.
