Brick by brick and two by two at Chester Cathedral
Families from across Chester Diocese met at Chester Cathedral for family Bible brick building workshops led by Steve Guinness, The Brick Consultant (Winner of Channel 4’s LEGO® Masters).
The story of Noah and his Ark was explored through fun hands-on LEGO® building activities. As well as building a giant ark, families worked together to build marvellous creatures and a spectacular mosaic with over 4000 pieces.
The activity day was part of a bigger Diocesan project coordinated by Katie Herrera, Children and Young People Adviser from the Outreach Department at Church House. This is a series of events trialling, and consulting with families to build an online resource which will be available to families to learn more about the Bible outside of church settings.
One attendee said: It was really great - well organised and sensitively handled. The family I brought with me, whose children have autism and ADHD, were really impressed I'm very grateful for the thought that had gone into it all.”
The Cathedral provided lunch for the families after a busy morning building.
Hannah Jones Outreach Administrator attended with her children. She said: “We had great fun creating weird and wonderful animals that would go into the Ark. Steve made the day fun and engaging. Even the Cathedral Staff came along and help create animals for the Ark. We are so grateful to Steve and his daughter Daisy for making they day so fun and engaging.”
