Chester Retired Clergy Association Cancels Autumn Gathering

The Chester Retired Clergy Association, which serves the Archdeaconry of Chester, has announced the cancellation of its upcoming autumn meeting scheduled for 23rd October due to illness within the organising committee.
The association, which meets twice yearly in spring and autumn, offers retired clergy, their spouses, and widows a chance to reconnect over morning coffee, a Eucharist, a guest speaker, and a shared meal. These gatherings have long been cherished for their fellowship and warm hospitality.
Â
The next meeting is now planned for April 2026, with full details to be circulated to members closer to the time, primarily via email.
Â
That spring event will also mark the final meal prepared by long-serving chefs Sybil Renwick and Jan Wright, who are stepping down after years of generous service. Their contribution has been deeply appreciated, not only for the quality of their food but for their kind and gentle presence.
Â
With these changes, the association is now seeking volunteers to assist with catering and to join the committee to help continue these valued gatherings. Outgoing Chair David Quarmby, who is leaving the diocese later this year, invites anyone interested in helping to contact him at david.quarmby@zen.co.uk or by phone at 07850 202221.
