Five Bikes in Boga thanks to BBMF

The Bishop of Chester, Mark Tanner is delighted to pass on an exciting update from one of our our link dioceses in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Through this year’s fundraising efforts, the Biking Bishops Biking Mission Fund sent £3,000 to each of our partner dioceses (Aru and Boga) —and the Diocese of Boga has used these funds to purchase five motorcycles, transforming ministry and outreach across their region.
The Boxer 125cc motorcycles will enable clergy and diocesan staff to overcome significant transport challenges in remote areas. Our gift covered just over four motorcycles, and the Diocese of Boga generously contributed additional funds to make it five—demonstrating their deep commitment to this shared mission.
Each motorcycle has been allocated for a specific purpose:
Diocesan Intendant – to visit all diocesan entities for asset inventory and security.
Bishop’s Chaplain – to support episcopal services and missions.
Assistant Priest of P.K. 51 Sub-Parish – to strengthen evangelism in a newly reached area.
Deputy Coordinator of Evangelisation (Gety Area) – to organise and revitalise local church outreach.
Director of Saint Apolo Kivebulaya Theological Institute – to supervise theological education and pastoral care.
“We give thanks to the Lord who continues to support His servants committed to His noble mission,” writes the Diocesan Secretary of Boga. “This partnership with Chester Diocese through the BBBMF programme is a blessing for evangelisation and church planting.”
Writing to thank supporters and passing on the good news, Bishop Mark said: “We are thrilled to see this impact and deeply grateful for your support. Please share this good news widely—and if you have events we can join to raise awareness and funds, let us know.”
“Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and partnership. Together, we are making a real difference.”
