Knutsford Deanery Visit Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March 2026

Knutsford Deanery Visit Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March 2026

Bishop Mark, Bishop Julie, and Bishop Sam spent two days experiencing the life of Knutsford Deanery, visiting parishes, schools, community groups, and emerging mission partnerships.

On Wednesday, the bishops began with morning worship across High Legh, Mobberley, Toft, and Alderley Edge, joining Celtic prayer, leading BCP and Common Worship services, preaching, and meeting local congregations. Community engagement followed, including lunch gatherings, a dementia‑friendly singing group, parish‑linked charity work, and meetings with local civic leaders and schools. The day concluded with Lent courses, BCP Evening Prayer, and prayer gatherings, each bishop contributing teaching, preaching, and encouragement across different parishes.

Thursday opened with quiet reflection and school engagement, including a meditation session, Café Church, and a teaching Eucharist with Year 7 pupils from Alderley Edge School for Girls. Lunchtime and afternoon visits strengthened partnerships with local businesses, community hubs, and parishes, while Bishop Julie joined a Lent Group exploring Henri Nouwen’s Following Jesus.

The visit wrapped up with a prayer gathering and an evening evangelistic event led by Hope Central, where Bishop Sam spent time with attendees following the talk.

The two‑day programme offered a rich snapshot of worship, community outreach, education, and mission across Knutsford Deanery, strengthening relationships and highlighting the deanery’s creativity, collaboration, and pastoral energy.
