Pentecost at the Cross

Pentecost at the Cross

Dozens of churches gathered in Chester to celebrate the birthday of the Church

Revd Jonathan Phillips led celebrations at the Cross in Chester to celebrate Pentecost. Fifty days after Easter, the day marks the coming of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of thousands — a moment joyfully acknowledged with a resounding “Happy Birthday” to the Church.

To mark the occasion, 200 party bags were handed out. Party bags included small cakes and informational leaflets and the Calvery Love City Gospel Choir added to the festive atmosphere.

Revd Philip emphasised the unity of the occasion: “We are unity at the Cross.” Church leaders in the area meet once a term to pray for their city, and on this day, their entire church families came together.
