Macclesfield Flower Ministry shine a light on sustainability

You won’t find any floral foam in St Michael’s Church in Macclesfield as the Flower Ministry Team are working hard to become as sustainable as possible.  They ditched floral foam several years ago and have moved to alternative ways of flower arranging that celebrate the local, reusable and natural.

Our Diocesan Environment Adviser Jill Elston spent a fun morning with Anne and Bernice from the Flower Ministry Team and said “These two ladies and the rest of the team at St Michael’s are making a real difference and are leading the way in sustainability.  They have some fantastic and practical ideas to share with other churches, they draw heavily on the advice of the Sustainable Church Flowers Organisation and have created a sustainable church flower policy for their church. Thanks, so much ladies for all your hard work, for leading the way and helping your church reach their Eco Church Silver Award!”
