Catalyst children and youth training course

The Catalyst course is starting soon and is fully funded by the Church of England (except for travel expenses). Catalyst is open to those that are just starting out in children and youth ministry, those more experienced or those looking for a pathway into further training. The course core topics include safeguarding, cultural awareness, working in groups, discipleship, self-knowledge, self-reflection, theology, biblical studies, play, informal learning, mission and evangelism.

The course comprises of an optional regional day on Saturday 26th September at St George’s Centre in Leeds. It follows five sessions led by Katy Herrera, the Families, Children and Youth Advisor for the diocese. 

The general dates for the sessions will be:

Thursday 22nd October (7-9pm)

Thursday 26th November (7-9pm)

Thursday 17th December (7-9pm)

Thursday 18th February (7-9pm)

Thursday 18th March (7-9pm)

This year there will also be an online (zoom) option on Wednesdays:

Wednesday 14th October (7-9pm)

Wednesday 18th November (7-9pm)

Wednesday 16th December (7-9pm)

Wednesday 17th February (7-9pm)

Wednesday 17th March (7-9pm)

As part of the course there is also a weekend away on 29th-31st January, 2027 at the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire.
