Historic Milestone for Emmanuel Church, Cheadle Hulme

Historic Milestone for Emmanuel Church, Cheadle Hulme

Emmanuel Church recently celebrated the anniversary of its church building with a special service that also included its first confirmation service in 20 years.

The church, which was planted in 1961, marked 25 years since the building project that was made possible through the sacrificial giving of the congregation. The service was an opportunity to give thanks for all that has happened since then and to look ahead to the future.

Bishop Sam of Stockport preached and confirmed Ben, a member of the church family. Speaking from 1 Peter 2, he encouraged the congregation to see themselves as "living stones" being built together as God's church.

Ben also shared his story of faith and spoke about the difference God has made in his life.

Among the guests were the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, along with friends and supporters of the church.

Revd Aled Seago said:

"Emmanuel Church, planted in 1961, celebrated the 25th anniversary of our building, which was opened in 2001 thanks to the sacrificial giving of the congregation. We were delighted to welcome Bishop Sam of Stockport, who encouraged us to live out our identity of 'living stones' from 1 Peter 2. He also confirmed Ben, a member of our church family, who spoke powerfully of how God has worked in his life. Our guests also included the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, as well as friends old and new."

The anniversary provided a chance to reflect on the church's ministry over the past 25 years and to celebrate a significant milestone in the life of the congregation.
