Julie Withers

We are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Julie Withers, Reader at St Peter’s Church, Hale. Julie was Chair of the House of Laity and held a number of diocesan and national roles on General Synod.
Paying tribute to Julie, Director of Ministry, Jenny Bridgman said: "Julie was such a great encourager of our work, and a dear friend to many of us and those we serve. As well as being Chair of the House of Laity, member of General Synod, and a member of the Ministry Committee, she was a licensed Reader, mentor, spiritual companion, member of the Diocesan Spirituality Group, and so much else."
"As a member of the Ministry Committee Julie always showed an informed interest and asked insightful and challenging questions. At our most recent meeting she was so kind and affirming of all that we're doing.
"Our work will be poorer without her, but she has been a wonderful servant of Christ and the church - and such a good friend to the Ministry Team."
The Bishop of Chester, Mark Tanner said: "Julie has been part of the fabric of our shared life as a diocese and as people, and I share the deep grief so many have expressed at her sudden parting. Her ministry, her support, and her gracious challenges were all gifts beyond measure and I am more grateful than I can express to and for her. My prayers are with Alice and the family."
