Pilgrim Places

Come and meet the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell when he visits Chester Diocese as part of the Faith in the North project which celebrates stories of pilgrims, pilgrimages and pilgrim places.
Archbishop Stephen will meet with community groups, church leaders and school children on Tuesday 2 June 2026, to explore what being a pilgrim means in our everyday journey as Christians and how pilgrim places can help us grow in our faith.
There are special events in the afternoon and evening to which all are invited.

10:30 - 11:00: A visit to the pilgrim place St Peter’s Church at the Cross.

11:00 -11:30: Pilgrimage walk for schools from St Peter’s at the Cross to Chester Cathedral

11:30 – 12:30:Schools event with Nick and Becky Drake
Nick and Becky from Worship for Everyone have created The Pilgrim Song for Faith in the North. Worship For Everyone was founded by Nick & Becky Drake in 2010 when they were based in London at St Paul’s Hammersmith, where Nick was Director of Music. Currently, Becky works as a School Chaplain at The Blue Coat School in Birmingham while Nick is ordained in the Church of England at Gas Street Church, Birmingham.

An invitation for church leaders and congregation members to join in afternoon tea with Archbishop Stephen. For any who are, or are considering, opening their doors to visitors as Pilgrim Places. Â

Join with Archbishop Stephen, Bishop Mark and Christians of all ages as we celebrate the saints who have shaped us, and the transformation that pilgrimage can bring. Songs, dance, and inspiration from stories and talks. We will be highlighting Pilgrim Places resources for churches, schools and homes
