Racial Justice Forum Co-chairs appointment

Racial Justice Forum Co-chairs appointment

Elizabeth Rene and Daniel Ramble have been appointed as two new co-chairs

The Outreach Committee has recently appointed two new co-chairs for the Forum, following a safer recruitment process, and we look forward to them starting their work in the coming months.  They are Elizabeth Rene and Daniel Ramble.

Elizabeth is a Pastoral Worker in Davenham Parish and has a professional background in child and adolescent psychotherapy.  She has been an active member of the Racial Justice Forum for the last five years and has worked with them to promote Racial Justice Sunday.  She has a firm belief that we need to act and live up to the mandate of being the Body of Christ, where all the gifts of all its people flourish to the full.

Daniel is the incoming Vicar of St George’s Stockport.  Although he is new to Chester Diocese he brings with him a great deal of experience.  He has recently been Area Dean of Oldham and Ashford and vice chair of the Racial Justice Steering Group in Manchester Diocese. He is a member of the national church’s Contested Heritage Committee, supporting churches and cathedrals in engaging faithfully with the legacies of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade.  For them he convenes the subcommittee looking at the theological underpinning of this work.  Daniel has a real passion and his ability to help the church address both the past and the present of racial justice.

The Racial Justice Forum has existed since 2020.  It was part of the response of the Diocese of Chester to the death of George Floyd in July 2020, and the reaction that this provoked across the world.  The national church response has been centred on the report From Lament to Action and  the Racial Justice Forum aims  to help every part of the diocese to implement the recommendations that appear in that report.
