Treasurers - You are not alone.
Chester Diocese has always been at the forefront when it comes to supporting volunteers who do the important work of treasurers. Looking after the parish finances can be a lonely and stressful job, and we know that treasurers may sometimes feel unskilled and need support. That’s why we’re piloting a new support service for parishes needing help, which is being provided by the team at Data Developments – the people who provide the MyFund Accounting and MyGiving software, which many treasurers are already signed up to.
What’s available to those who sign up for the support service?
We’re making MyFund Accounting and MyGiving software available to churches at a reduced cost of £60 per program per annum per church. For new users the first year’s costs will be paid by the Diocese. This includes telephone technical support delivered during normal office hours and email/ticket support.
For parishes new to the software, there will be support with onboarding, setting up nominal codes and resolving end of year errors in order to add the starting balances.
Full training courses on both packages – 2 days on My Fund Accounting, 2 days on My Giving with an additional ½ day on treasurer responsibilities. These will be spread across the year with a focus on new treasurers in March/April. Gift Aid and Tax in April/May and year end planning in November.
Access to the Treasurer Network Whatsapp Group for updates and discussions. (This will be made available to all parishes, whether or not they use the MyFund Accounting platform.)

Network meetings covering topics of general interest to treasurers
Additional Services
Available outside of the provision of the Diocese, available through Data Development at a small additional cost.
Online resources: a pack of template guides, policies and other helpful documents will be made available later in 2026.
Bookkeeping service: for those who need regular or one-off additional support with operational administration.
Gift Aid service, we also have this service available to churches who haven’t claimed Gift Aid or GASDS and need to be caught up or haven’t got anybody able to complete this work and risk losing out of Gift Aid and GASDS.
Independent Examination Service: available to those churches that are using Data Development accounting software
