Disability Awareness Sunday

Disability Awareness Sunday

Join churches across the UK – and beyond – as we celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday on 28 September 2025. This year’s theme reminds us that every person, disabled or not, reflects the image of God.

Made in God’s Image is the theme for this year’s Disability Awareness Sunday, organized by Through the Roof, a Christian disability charity that changes the lives of disabled people around the world and helps others to change lives too.

Emma Speake, Diocesan Disability Adviser and Sally Coles-Robertson, member of the Chester Diocese Disability Forum are encouraging churches to take part by visiting the Through the Roof website and downloading the free resources. Both women are neurodivergent and recently appeared on a special edition of Songs of Praise highlighting the needs of neurodivergent people.

Emma says: “It’s really important for people to recognize that the church is made up of so many people but all of us have that common specialness … each of us with different abilities and skills and things to offer to the church and offer to the world.”
